When Religion Laughs at Science

The religion referred to here is the logical one—namely: Islam.
Does religion laugh at science? Yes and no — depending on the perspective and how one reads the relationship between revelation and observation. Every answer has a valid argument. Because reality itself contains both answers, albeit in different argumentative forms.
Religion, in its vastness of meaning, can be likened to the universe itself — infinite, full of meaning, and far beyond the reach of ordinary observation. Science, on the other hand, with all its limitations, is more like a small laboratory on a tiny planet called Earth. So, when science claims that reality must be scientific, it essentially needs to verify every single star or bring several galaxies into its lab for further analysis. This, of course, would be both troublesome — and utterly impossible.
Science always boasts about innovation. Yet, it remains unaware that its hypotheses had already been declared by the Qur’an 14 centuries before I wrote this article. This means science is actually 14 centuries behind.
Science seems to merely reaffirm what has long been declared by the Qur’an — as if it has just arrived at a truth already proclaimed by revelation ages ago.
I asked ChatGPT, “What hypotheses does the Qur’an mention that align with scientific research?”
Here’s the summarized answer:
The atmosphere protects the earth from external objects and radiation. “And We made the sky a protected ceiling…” (Qur’an 21:32)
Rain forms from the interaction and condensation of clouds. “…then We pile the clouds, and We bring forth rain from within them…” (Qur’an 24:43)
The earth (and its mountains) moves, even if it appears still. “And you see the mountains, thinking they are stationary, while they move like clouds…” (Qur’an 27:88)
Mountains play a role in stabilizing the earth's crust. “Have We not made the earth a resting place? And the mountains as pegs?” (Qur’an 78:6–7)
Milk production involves biological processes linked to digestion and blood circulation. “…We give you drink from what is in their bellies — from between digested matter and blood — a pure milk, palatable to the drinkers.” (Qur’an 16:66)
Life originated from water. “…And We made from water every living thing…” (Qur’an 21:30)
These hypotheses are evidence that the Qur’an contains advancements long before the term "intellectual" was even defined.
So is it true that religion laughs at science? Yes — implicitly. No — explicitly.
